i got 14 from 23 hens. they hatched on june 2nd...so not all of them are laying. i am hoping they average 18 eggs a day for a few years.

how many years do you generally keep laying hens? three years before switching to a new flock? do you butcher? broth? soup meat?

I found another eggzilla this morning! This time I weighed it. Just a tad over the 3oz mark. I think the 1st one from the other day was a tad longer.
Just one, laying on the floor. The others will probably be in the boxes within the next few hours.

are you sure there’s not a turkey hiding in your coop? that thing is huge!! Does it have multiple yolks?

I should have taken some pics of my oddly shaped pullet eggs but I ate them already. The different yolk/white ratio was very obvious when SOs scrambled eggs turned out BRIGHT yellow.
