No worries! Two are Bantams, so the roost is big enough. The run is kinda small for four of them, which is why I got the extra run. But they’re out in the yard if we’re home during the day.Sorry, they're probably not that bad. I tend to over-dramatize a bit.
I have to disagree I live in Missouri where the weather flips like a pancake and when we get a sudden cold spell after warm days yes it does have a effect on them. I’ve seen this now for over 30 years. A chicken will reserve its energy to stay warm rather than waste it on laying eggs in cold weather.cold shouldn't affect them too much,
Thanks, Dough Hill. I'm in MO too, down here in the SE not far from the Bootheel area. When I first moved here 13 years ago (from a desert state) we had some pretty extreme and severe winters but the last few years it's mellowed out a lot. My thinking was that if an egg is in production it's going to come out regardless of the outside temps. But your rationale makes sense too.I have to disagree I live in Missouri where the weather flips like a pancake and when we get a sudden cold spell after warm days yes it does have a effect on them. Not totally sure who laid it but the color would suggest that it is either one of my 2 Black Copper Marans or my Marans x EE cross if she didn’t inherit the blue gene. Other possibilities would be Barred Rock or EE. View attachment 3718087
