How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

8 plus one broken egg which made a lovely mess over a couple of them. Washed the eggs off, cleaned up the gunk in the nest box and everything was right as rain

I've discovered it's Jane, our mating-other-hens Jersey Giant who is laying the oblong eggs.

I also finally got to witness Sophia, one of our Copper Marans nesting practices. While I was cleaning the coop this morning she was jumping up to the ramp, hopping from ramp to nest, hopping down out of nest... hopping up to ramp, hopping over to nest, hopping down out of nest... over and over and over and over and she did it ad infinitum until I was out of there and continued for quite some time (I have a camera in there) and I was just gigglin at her.

While she was doing that, Dora, one of our Sapphire Gems, just kind of bored, walked over to a nest and got in and plopped down. lol didn't even bother or care what Sophia was on about.
