How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

12 yesterday!

It was warm, unseasonably so, and Tilly got off a little more than usual yesterday and just cracked me up both times I happened to be out there - running around like she doesn't know what to do with freedom, honking like mad (she's our honker, like a goose), NO other chicken could get near her, she'd peck the air in their direction and turkey-tail. God it was adorable.

Then she'd eat, drink, and get back on the nest.

My LED candler is coming Monday, will check the 2 eggs she's sat on to see how they are coming along, it will be *almost* 2 weeks gestation.

All of your eggs are beautiful! Who are your blue layers?
Mostly mutts, and I have three Azur Blue (Hendrix Genetics) which are leghorn x Auracana. They have that leghorn look, lay blue eggs. All three are splash, and the one even has a crest. They are the cutest little friendly birds.

I was lucky the barnyard mutts my niece initially hatched out a few years ago (which started all this madness haha), laid blue and blue-green eggs. Their daughters I kept from them lay blue eggs. Mr P being polish which lay white eggs, his genes were recessive to the blue gene the ladies carry.

Then a few of the Peavey Mart chicks from Hoover Hatchery are blue Eggers, and green Eggers.

It interesting seeing who lays what 😊

Did I ever post the wee lovely egg that OEGB bantam lays? Such a gorgeous pearly pink colour.

This is my one Silkie egg (Curly) I candles at around 2 weeks

And Fluffy’s same clutch.

Both hatched and I got Betty and Bert 😊

3 eggs yesterday. They jumped on the nestbox earlier than usual.

We are slowly, but surely entering Autumn now. It is colder at night and early in the morning, the sun rise much later. I am so looking forward to it, the darkness keep my chickens quiet.
The daylight hrs are getting longer here. But it’s not warming up any!

Only 100 more days until our official gardening season begins.
