I'm totally amazed!!! I just tallied my daily count since Sept. 7th when I got the first egg and it's 224, I did the math again same results. This is my first year to have chickens and I will have them till I'm too old to properly care for them. I guess I'm doing something right. 9-10 a day from 10 Golden Comets. I got the largest egg so far the other day. I had to get out the dial calipers to properly measure it. 2.580" long and 1.874" in diameter. OWIE! What we haven't eaten I've given to good people that deserve them, none for the bad people. My co-worker/ straw supplier dropped off my winter bedding yesterday and asked where the chickens were? I said oh there here someplace and I hollered WHERE'S MY BABIES? COME ON BABIES! Of course they all came running from their foraging spots. He couldn't believe it. He said he's never seen chickens come when called and he's lived on a farm his whole life. I told him that his chickens were never spoiled and pampered like these. Getting ready for winter, have enough bedding for them, the water heater is built, and a thermometer is on tomorrows shopping list. Oh ya and the top hinged coop windows are nailed tight. YA gotta love em!
