How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Quote:
It's called Shook's Poultry in Claremont, NC just up the road between Statesville and Hickory. It's not what I'm doing, that's for sure. I think it's beginner's luck and the fact that we have the Gold Comet breed. They're just the best egg laying machines you can get. MxPres got his 19 GC's from there too and his gals have been matching mine egg for egg.

I just googled that hatchery and this is what their home page said:

Hello and Welcome to Shook Poultry's
2010 Poultry Season.

This year we have went under some major changes and have decided to only sale
18 Week Old Started Pullets.

Too bad since I was going to order baby chicks from them....

I got 4 out of 15 today.

In light of this new information, I think Jim should pick us up pullets and deliver them. I'm in northeast PA Jim. You can bring them in 4 months when my snow is almost gone

After our snowy two weeks of near and subzero temps, our 20 hens are perking up. My Silkies had quit laying entirely, and yesterday I had 3 Silkie eggs, 2 today, so they are coming back. We have had 8 or 9 big brown, creme, and green eggs daily again from our 15 standard hens. We had dropped back to only 3-4 a day, and now we're back up to 11 or 12, a very acceptable number to me, considering it's deep dark winter and most of our girls are "over the hill" rescue hens, pampered now and seemingly happy for it. I think their hot oatmeal/leftovers breakfasts are making a difference along with roast chicken carcasses, BOSS, and CalfManna to supplement their laying mash. ~G

21 today! I have 30 hens. 25 of them just started laying the end of Dec. 2 of them are 3 yr olds but still give me an egg almost every day. My EE's haven't started laying yet. Is it true that they don't lay between Sept/Oct and Mar/April? If that's the case then I guess I will have to wait until March/April to see some tinted eggs. Another question - do the eggs get bigger and bigger as they begin to lay more? I have Delawares, Orps and Wyandottes (besides the EE's).
