How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3/3 Again! Like buttercup took a break yesterday Nugget and C.C. have been laying daily. I guess they're just paying me back for that lovely cabbage I gave them, which is now destroyed so it sort of looks like a chandelier!

And buttercup, it's turns is the one who STILL hasn't figured out the concept of the nesting box, layed an egg right under it. I can just imagine her sitting there, laying an egg, and eating cabbage at the same time!
But anyways, I have figured out who lays which eggs now!

Buttercup( shes a some one big chicken compared to the others but she lays the least frequent and the smallest eggs)-

Another 7 egg day!
We have a community nest box and they do not have a problem with it. They are all very civilized about it, I even saw one hen leave the box because the barred rock, Lucy , apparently needed the nest for a minute. Very often we find 4 eggs on one side and 2 or three on the other. We still have one hen laying in the cramped space under the box. Silly chicken!

Oops almost forgot!, we were at a career fair today and the vet tech had a banty frizzle named Rosie there. Such a sweet girl, and not at all skittish with all the middle school kids around. I just loved her curly feathers. I'm definitely thinking of adding a couple to my flock...

That is SO cool! I wish MY chickens would lay their names on their eggs! Lucky!

Last week we averaged 7 from 9 hens. Every time I head to my garden, the girls are bummed that I don't bring them tomatoes anymore. I pulled a broccoli plant for them yesterday and they devoured every little yellow flower and stripped every "green" trace from the plant. They love their veggies. I love my girls.
