Yuck! No dogs licking off the plates in my house!!
Finally the voice of reason.

Highlander, you too?

Wow, was this from my post on the kitchen accessory thread! Woo hoo!

Sourland, I usually agree with most things you post, but I gotta go with the lickers on this one. Yep, my dogs eat poop from different animals and spend inordinate amounts of time licking their own personal areas. And I never leg my dogs lick me, either! That's just nasty. But I guess I have faith in my soap and dishwasher. Dogs get to rinse plates, casserole dishes, etc here.

Has anyone seen the pic of the redneck dishwasher? It's a golden retriever puppy inside the dishwasher!

This thread is hilarious!!!

We don't even have a 5 second rule here. We have a hover rule, if it the food/ dish gets 5 inches from the floor, its the dogs.

PS.
We have a two cycle pre-wash... after the dog's done with it, the cats clean it up real nice...

And you actually trust that contraption to sanitize?

actually yes, dishwashers often reach temperatures too hot for our hands to handle, the jets strike the plates with enough force to knock a lot of germs off that manage to survive the heat and soap, and have been proven to sanitize far better than sink washing.

ain't buying it! It's them real hardy, heat, soap, and chlorine resistant germs that I am skeered of. Paper plates it is if I ever visit any of you guys, except for Peaches Lee that is.

Some people wash cast iron for some odd reason to... I dont get that.
I hand wash it then season it immediately before I put it away. It is the same method my mother has used, and it's the same cast iron she had when she was my age. Like all cookware, particles of food build up and decay, so the occasional hand washing is beneficial.
