How many of you that have pet chickens.........?

Lock them up safely every night? yep I can't sleep if I don't remember latching the lock. Had a raccoon come in when the latch was broken, so I am cured of that mistake

Let them out and feed every morning? yep before I get dressed for work

Watch your flock and look for issues? (health, predator, etc.) I try to

Touch your birds frequently and look for health issues? eh, I do a butt check (for mites) every now and then before I lock em up at night, but I don't do a lot of fawning over them.

Sit with them and hold them? not really nope (I only carry them if they escape, or carry the rooster if he's giving me attitude)

Fresh water daily? every couple of days, as needed

Clean coops regularly? whenever it needs it

Do preventative maintenance? (worming, etc.) not really

Treat (to the best of your ability) any health problems? so far haven't needed to, but plan to

Give healthy treats? yep

Mourn the loss of one? so far hasn't been a big issue, was more frustrated/angry when some of my chicks were stolen

Today I carried the girls from the back porch across the snowy backyard to the covered area so they wouldn't get their little feet wet. Then carried them from the covered eating area to the coop for the same reason. Hope they adjust to the snow soon!

Yup... Bout the only thing i don't do every day is clean the water. Sometimes if I'm feeling lazy i will let it go, but i'll only do that if the water looks clean, if it isn't i clean it.

go to farmers market late in the day to get FREE treats for them that the farmers couldn't sell....yum
