PW-Quiltworks, I hope n pray to someday have a long arm, my son currently lives in the space for it.my Janome is a newer model but I am like you n heavy handed, sew over needles also, yeah keeps going, so worth it!!

Yep it does take a lotta space. I have a bedroom for it and it just fits. If I get any fatter I will not be able to get around it.

It's the best investment I have made. A lot of the quilting girls I know use their regular machine and a hopping foot. I think that the name of it. They lower the feed dogs and use it that way. I don't think it would work as well with a queen sized quilt though.

PW, yes I do that now on my Janome and moving a full size or larger is a trial. some day I may get to get one in my sons room once he is established on his on.
 
I have used sewing machine and one serger.I have each serger and sewing machine at present.The serger do help me a lot.I use it to roll the hem and ceate the satisfying result.I cann't live without the juki serger.
