Not nearly enough. My next coop will have wire on the upper 4 feet. I will have a cover for part of the winter but not to much. I just read the Backyard poultry magazine, it talks about the extreme ventilation that hens need to stay healthy. Last year I had trouble with my hens. I had it warm and I thought enough ventilation but the yr before I had more ventilation and less resp. problems. Humm more ventilation was better. this year there will be an area of 8x8 that is pretty much closed except for vents at the top. It will connect to an area with 4 feet or wire on one side. Since this area is 2 feet above the first, air rising will go out but no direct drafts will be on the roost. I think this is my best option this year. The only extra warmth will be from the water warmmer which I will use a very small bulb in to prevent freezing. Now having said all this, if I lived in an area that went below 0 often I might would cover a bit more.
