I'm building a 4' X 8' coop and will be using the deep litter method. Assuming I start with 3-4 inches of pine bedding, how much DE should I add to the litter to help keep it dry? Everybody says "a dusting" but this reminds me of the time I asked my mother in law for the recipe for her delicious cole slaw dressing and it was: A BLOB of mayonnaise, a couple of GLUGS of vinegar . . . you get my drift. So . . . about how much is a DUSTING??

And that is basically how you use DE. Sprinkle it around liberally.
