How much did your coop cost?

My largest coop 6X8 was built under a leanto...About 100.00 total...My next one 34"x48"x30"T at the highest point about 20.00 All I had to buy was a couple sheets of OSB and a couple 2x4s. We already had some Cedar lumber I used for the roof. Then my last one is one of those wooden fancy dog houses that Lowes has...They just marked it down for the 2nd time to 107.98. And we also have an Igloo brand doghouse for the ducks...Already had it so didn't cost a thing.

ETA: Oh yeah, I also got a 6'x8'x20" crate from a farm supply boneyard for free. Gonna section it off and put it up on legs and use for breeder pens for the ducks next Spring. so probably will have around 40.00 in it because of the wire used. The housing/nest boxes will be some old panelling we took off the basement walls.

Absolutely nothing, we used recycled material. And the fencing was given to us for free because he was just going to take it to the junk yard. My DH made the coop, pen and run plus a duck pen with shelter and we have enough left over to make my banty's their own coop and run!

I spent about $500.

Big mistake, getting chicks without a coop built. I pretty much bought all new material from Lowe's.

I free range my chickens 90% of the time, so I could have save a lot of money on my run.

My coop/run cost us about 1000$. That's for the coop, 7'x10' -8'high, with 3/4" or 7/8" (I can't remember) barn siding, tin roof, two windows, door, roost, 4 hole nest box, dropping board, 10x10 foot completely covered run, using chain link fencing, 4x6x 12 foot treated timbers for the post, overhead and 6x6 x 12 timbers for the gate, hardware cloth to cover the the windows, and the bottom three feet of the run, a few bags of cement, screws, staples, hinges, handles, nails for the nail gun, paint, tar paper for under the tin roof.. and I am sure that I have forgetten something..

The chickens: there will be 3 hens of the following standard breed: RIR, Barred Rock, Amearucanas and Marans and one Roo--haven't decided which breed it will be.

It took much longer to build than we thought it would, it costs twice as much and it was enlarged twice. Dixie

My coop is 12'x12'x8' tall and I have 2 run's that are 12'x 24'x8' tall, all are built very sturdy and have a clean look in an L shape, 1 covered run houses my turkeys and the other run and coop are for the lady's. they are all painted and dry and comfy. I have a slight advantage as I am a professional contractor with my own business. My materials were all good leftovers from previous jobs. but if I had to pay for them it would have cost about $ 6-700.00 without labor so that still is not to bad. i think your cost are in line and doing great. good job!!.

Just finishing my coop up. It is 8'x16' with a bump out that is 4'x8' giving a total 160 sq ft. I bought all my materials new and have about $900-$950 which will include the attached 16'x20' run which is not completed yet. I am going to have 19 girls in there for now but plan on 25-30 total in the future. Right now I have Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire Red, Silver Laced Wyandotte, and Easter Egger's.

Here's the latest photo, although I have gotten some more done on it since this photo.

20 bucks. I snagged the crates before they went in the dumpster at work. Hinges for the doors, and all the Lexan came out of old furniture at work. Latches for the doors and the gate were on the crates when I brought them home.

I had to buy a pack of shingles because the partial I had woudn't quite cover the roof.

Everything else I either had laying around or scrounged.

Coop itself is about 7'x3', haven't measured the run but it extends another 4' or so to the one side and I'd say it' probably 6' deep.

We don't talk about it either, but it will take about 5 years worth of selling eggs/chicks to pay for it.

It's 12x20', split into 8 pens and a brooder room that is 4x8'. Mostly new construction, and insulated. There are photos on "my page", but I don't think that mine qualifies as your everyday coop. My first one was 8x8', and probably cost $600 in materials. I really don't remember now.
