How much do you pay for feed??

Pics
At Kahoots, $22.99 for 50 lb bag of layer pellets here in west coast US. It used to be around 14-16$ just a few years ago. I buy 2 bags each time I go just in case because there was a time they were out of stock

Was curious if your girls slow way down on their egg production when they are molting. Mine seem too, or at I think that’s what’s happening.
Yes that's completely normal. I don't have a single bird that continues laying during molt (though some might), and they generally won't lay again after that until days start lengthening again.

Where are you... I pay 45 to 55 for organic Modesto milling layer pellets in 50lbs bags.

Why is it so expensive in California!

Because you live in such a beautiful state. Ohio is cheaper because all we have is Amazon buildings and a few state parks to go to. No beautiful beaches or Redwood trees or Palm trees. I used to live in California and the prices were bad back in the early 70's. I am from Ohio and can't afford to live anywhere else, lol.

* To feed my large fowl and bantam ducks, I feed Purina Duck Pellets - 40lb/$22.49
* To feed large fowl and bantam roosters and any hens that aren't laying, I use Nutrena All Flock Pellets - 40lb/$23.49
* For my large fowl and bantam hens that are laying, I feed Nutrena Hearty Hen Pellets - 40lb/$23.99
* I feed the resident wild geese whole corn - 40lb/$10.49 + any pellet feed I can spare.
All of my birds prefer pellets 100%, as do I. Recently I noticed the size of the pellets varies by milling location, even with the same feed. Of course Bantam chickens should be able to eat any normal sized pellet without problems but several of them seem to be quite picky the few times I've ended up with larger pellets, so going to a particular location is important. Luckily for me, the location with the odd larger pellets has a higher sales tax, so that's one way to shave off a tiny bit $ here and there. It adds up when you're buying feed every 1.5 weeks.
