Yes I was holding up a light, and it was already dead when I cracked it open.You can't kill an egg by candling it too much. Candling is holding a light up to the large end of the egg. Is that what you're doing?

What type of incubator do you have?I candled my eggs almost every day. I was extremely quick and careful. My incubator is also unique in that it's temperature doesn't fluctuate much when opened.
