How much Prozap Permethrin should I use to treat lice?

I just read that permethrin is highly toxic to cats. Please be careful if you are dusting your chickens like I was and bring those dusty clothes back into a house with cats as it can kill them. One of my cats is a little extra sleepy....I know how can you tell with a cat? I think I even picked him up with some on my clothes! Now I have one more thing to worry about.

We keep our chickens in a barn and when I dust, I really dust. Permethrin dust goes everywhere. We have a few barn cats that have surely been exposed to it and they're all fine.

After reading this I'll be more careful, but I haven't had any problems yet.

So good to hear that! I had no idea that something fine for dogs could kill cats.

Ok, thanks for the advice, I think I will wear gloves and such and sprinkle some on each chicken and work it into their feathers, and I will treat the broody hens and put some around the coop. I was mainly worried about using to much causing some sort of reaction, but it doesn't sound like that will happen.
It surely CAN poison your birds!

454 grams per pounds, divide by 100 = 4.5 GRAMS per bird. Get an accurate gram scale, weigh out 4.5 grams, add to DE for easy of application. This way you CANNOT overdose.
