Hey all! We picked up some new girls last weekend. They are said to be Americauna and Olive Eggers. She said they were “around 4 months” but they are much smaller than I think
They should be for that age. They still peep, no clucks. What do you think?

There are a couple pics of the big girls in the background that shows the size difference. The little and the bigs are getting to know each other through the fence.

That’s what I was thinking too. Quite a bit younger than 4 months. They’re still peeping too, not clucking. Im leaving them separate of the big girls for at least a few weeks

How soon would you think I could integrate them with the others? All my breeds are very sweet and have had new pullets introduced a few times before. I was thinking next week. I need to have them in the big coop the week before Easter because we’re leaving town and I don’t want the neighbor to have to deal with 2 coops. They’d be 12-14 weeks or so at that time give or take

I find the sooner the better. Especially if you have added to your flock before. I don't really think chickens have long memories...or maybe it is just that over the years, I got better at it.

What I would do is open the fence high enough that the littles can get through, and big one cannot. Then I would wait. Eventually the littles will get curious and step out, but know where safety is. In a week, you can take the separation down.

Ok. They’re currently in an entirely separate coop. They can all see each other through the fence....the thing is the little girls will hardly ever come out of the coop to play outside 🤷‍♀️
