How old was your hen when she laid her 1st egg?

This is handy

At 23 weeks no eggs yet for all my breeds below.

Woohoo!
Red Sussex Cross, which is a red sex link. First egg today at 20 weeks and 5 days. Brown (the deep tan that pale people seek on Hawaiian beaches) and faintly speckled; regular shape and strong shell; fairly small at 2 1/8" long; 1 5/8" across; 5" horizontal circumference; 6" vertical circumference. But it's an egg!

I have Bovan Browns (also called Gold Sex Links) and the first laid at 15 1/2 weeks. She laid five days in a row and now seems to be taking the weekend off. I was excited and sent out emails and made several phone calls!

They are still in the fridge. I keep looking at them and smiling. They seem so much prettier and more perfect than the store bought ones. Wierd?

Weird? This is BYC! I think it's weird when people DON'T think these eggs are special!

Hello! I've been reading for a while now, but this is my first post.

Black Austrolorp just started laying last week at 21 weeks old. YIPPEE! and how appropriate that she is my son's pet chicken (the other 3 are family birds, but "Blacky" is just his!)

We have 2 Ameraucanas and they have not started laying yet (22 wks old) and 1 Silver laced wyandotte (also 22 wks old) who is not laying yet.

Waiting patiently!!
