Age when she started laying: 23ish weeks

Color of egg: reddish brown

Size of egg: small


Ever since she started laying last week, she has loyally laid one egg every day! Yay!

New Hampshire 19 weeks old . another NH 22 weks old lays bigger eggs than first one. Buff Orpington 23 weeks lays smaller egg. 1 Wellsummer almost 27 weeks old not laid yet (unless shes hiding them) These 4 are all the same age. 3 younger dominiques should start any time. Bought these at swap meet and dont know exactly how old my guess about 20 weeks.

How cold does it get where you are?

Some breeds are great for laying in winter. Check out Henderson's chicken breed chart. It gives a good idea of what to expect.

Layed her egg at about 1 P.M., I always thought they layed early morning till I found BYC

edited because I just saw that a hen did not lay until 39 weeks...geez now that is an expensive egg : )
