How old was your hen when she laid her 1st egg?

Oh wait. That sounded REALLY old, then I figured out the weeks and it sounded more normal!

I have 5 of Whitmore's Welsumers and they started laying at 17 weeks, all but one, who I think has either not laid yet, or is very irregular. The eggs range from medium to large, now almost always tending toward large at 6 mos. Occasional double y-er, colors from solid dark brown -- almost black -- to light brown speckled. I get 4 one day and 2 the next, alternating this pattern almost always. They are just 6 mos now. My oddball went broody for almost 2 mos. Now that she is over that, she is moulting!!!! Her legs are much darker yellow than her sisters, and her comb is smaller. She is ostracized a bit -- always keeps herself a bit separate, but they do not seem to pick on her, her weight is good and she is very active. But a true oddball. I am eager to see if she will lay once her feathers are in -- which will be Hallowe'en! She must have something amiss with her hormones.

EE- 24.5 weeks
The only other one of 6 that is laying is the SLW who laid her first egg at 21.5 weeks, and has laid 14 eggs so far.

Here it is next to the last two laid by the silver laced wyandotte. SLW eggs were teeny tiny when she started and now they are just small. The EE laid one slightly bigger right off the bat. (maybe because she waited?)
