Good luck with your bees! I am looking forward to reading about how they are turning out. I wish I knew more about honey to help you know what the "completely sealed" part means, but maybe someone else here does.

My dad has bee's....several hives....he loves it...and I love the honey! Enjoy, and let us know how it's going. Was the PO alittle shocked to deliver? Or did you pick up somewhere?

At my post office the Post Master has hives. He walked over and helped us install them in the hives. LOL

I've always wondered about keeping bees. Maybe someday when I have lots of land so I know they aren't going somewhere with pesticides to get fed. I'm looking forward to hearing all about the bees!!

I hope you can buy alot of land. Bees travel for miles and miles and miles.

Miss Prissy, they mean that the honey needs to be capped before you harvest it. The bees will fan the honey until it has less than 16% moisture and then they cap it. Then it's ready! If you harvest it before then it can and will develop bacteria.. I suggest that you buy the book Beekeeping for Dummies. It is the best book, step by step , season by season details! I use it as a reference book and our bee club uses it as the class workbook for new beekeepers.. Well worth the money...Dixie

Keep me posted on the top bar hives. That is what we where looking at doing. Plans have been stalled for now as far as getting bees on this property.

I've been trying to talk my husband into bees. our backyard will be complete when the hens are laying and I have a couple dairy goats and some bees!

I've never really gotten an answer though about how much honey to expect from them.
