Sounds like you just about as much about ratites as I do horses, welsummerchicks!

I can only repeat what others said. My emus have ripped open a little dog. (not mine) My three emus would have chased( not sure how sucsessfuly) the rottie that came to our house last week. Rheas are smaller than emus, so they could take less of a dog.

It was not a serious question to start with, but it has been fun to learn about emus and rheas. And maybe I'll get some big birds some day when I have more room.

My emus hate guineas, I've had to rescue a guinea that was cornered and I've also lost a guinea to the emus. I've since blocked an area that the guineas were getting in through.
