hi there,
first time incubating and hatching.
about 3 maybe 4 hours ago i had to hatch a chick, he was on day 23 and the membrane had turned yellow/brown so it started to dry out and also stick to him. Hes now fluffed up but still has some goo on him here and there.
He was very exhausted, i was worried he wouldn't have made it an hour. I let him rest an hour or so then when i got back home from dinner there wasn't much improvement so i gave him some sugar water was worried he was having trouble swallowing as it was like he was pushing it back and it was bubbling in his mouth. Since an hour ago he seemed to spark up, and for a while be able to stay upright and nearly hold his head up smoothly. My main worry is he may have a curled foot but it may not be a issue due as I've seen him stand on it flat. Hes has also recently been doing what my other chicks did when they hatched, they would sleep then wake up and bulldoze around till they found a spot they liked and fall back asleep.
I am wondering what i should do from here.

- Do i keep giving him water, with or without sugar and how often. hes probably only had 3mls so far about 2 hrs ago.
- how long should i keep him in the hatcher as i think by tomorrow night he will have used up his yolk absorption and need access to food.
- also if he declines during the night how long should i wait till i decide whether to cull?
