That is great advice I have other hens that are great egg layers.

I saw some chicks at a feed store I bought 2 buff silkies and two blue silkies . Just mainly for pets

I have created a separate pen for them. Right they are under heating light. They are
Only 2 weeks old .

Any other advice will great thanks!

I have one buff silkie. Right now she's with the rest of the flock her age and younger. I'm emailing back and forth to a lady on cl that has a pair so mine won't be so lonely. Chickens really do hang out with the color they are and I still find that odd! She's hanging with a Buff Orpington that will soon be a layer. Has anyone had success allowing them to run with the rest of the flock? My first experience with a silkie and so far she's won both hubby's heart and mine. :)

Silkies are one of the most friendly breeds. They have weak skulls and don't fly. They can be easy for cats and other chicken killers to catch because of their head feathers that give is a hard time to see. Here are my silkies

The 3 are all happily eating bugs and running across the yard to me to get treats lol! Do all silkie roos have the raspberry comb? I sure hope so, the pair I got is one roo with the raspberry comb and a pullet, my one that was lonely is 5 months and no comb? Is there a chance she could be a he?

I have 12 week old silkies. Here is a picture of the 2 white ones. Don't mind the hubs. Is a berry comb the color or the description. I'm not sure what these two are, pullet or roo. They seem pretty skitish of my big girls and tent to try to stay in the back of the crate until I bring them out myself.
