How To Catch A Chicken

Ummm... scratch works

As a herding instrument though I cannot recommend enough a large red rake. They go running SO FAST.

I use a fishing net. I cover it with sand or leaves and put some food down by it. When the chickens come to it, I flip the net. I no longer have to run after them

Hey yall, we use a fishing net too. It doesn't hurt them. When we need to give medicine, spray bluecote, or whatever. It's much easier than running around the pen and injuring my knee again, and again, trying to pivot when the chicken goes the other way. The net is the answer.

I tempt them near me with food
And in a slow movement I gently pick them up

Some of them dont like it, but I rarely need to pick them up other than to check them over
So I would just do that as soon as I open their door in the morning and they come out of their bed!

The ones I need to 'get to' most is the roos
Sometimes they're a bit on the naughty side and I need to give them a swift swoop to 'put them in their place'

I think having a net would just be too much effort n I'd fear I'd hurt them
