I got some new chicks in the mail today! 6 adorable silkies! Howevera couple of them have poop on them. One of them has several poop spots on themselves. None of them have pasty butt. I know you can work out a local spot such as pasty butt however I’m concerned with how many spots that will be wet on the chick if I clean her up.

Any advice is appreciated!

If it's not around the vent (butt) then don't do anything. They shed non stop as chicks. Whatever little dried poop is on them will fall off in a few days.

If it is around the butt area then absolutely clean it. I get water from tap to 98-100 degrees into a bowl then sit them down in it until the poop is softened up and remove. Put them straight under the brood lamp after dabbing with paper towel.

Thank you! I kept feeling like I should just leave it alone. I’m glad I asked.
