Hi there,
I unfortunately hatched 4 silkie roosters recently. They're all quite nice and handsome and I can't figure out which to let go (planning on rehoming hopefully). How do you decide? I am planning on retaining 2 roosters for breeding. I currently have white, splash, paint, and black hens. I have a blue rooster with copper leakage around his neck who is the dominant and good at breeding and defense of the coop. I also have a white rooster who is also good with defense. Finally, I have two black roosters. Wish I could keep them all! Photos attached

I keep the ones that don't forcefully mount hens(that's aggressive behavior) or attack/bite me. If the hens submit without any protest I know they like him. If they're screaming and trying to get away, I know he isn't right for them.

You can always breed out faint color leakage later on in the generations if his temperament is your favorite. Most silkies I have ever purchased (from breeders!) have color leakage in the neck area. I'm personally okay with it, but it's what you want from your future generations that matters.
They are all beautiful!

Would you breed for pet or show quality? I noticed that the white one has a reddish comb, and that is against the standard. They are all very handsome!
Pet for sure. They all have 5 toes and black skin otherwise but yes, that one has a red comb.
