How to get husband in gear to build coop

Since he pretty much thinks I am not capable of building anything myself I think maybe I will take my drawing with the dimension of the coop and get started myself. Thanks for all the great idease

Perhaps trying the nice approach will work better than conspiring to tick him off or trick him into doing it. sheeesh girls cut him some slack. Just sayin is all.

guess I got lucky I said no chickens in the house so he built the coop it was completed day before their arrival .

I have been trying the nice approach for 2 months and have gotten nothing but the brush off.

How about trading work! I asked my hubby to build me another coop for the wyandottes. He started and it was sloooow going. So this Saturday (yesterday) we decided that if I went with him and helped him finnish up 2 small projects on two of his jobs (he's a contractor) he'd get my coop chick inhabitable. Not finnished but finnished enough for them to go in. So he did! We did his projects (yes I did help him!) and we where up till 11pm building my coop. Then he helped me catch all 45+ wyandottes in the brooder and get them in the new coop! Here he is getting started about 3pm yesterday

There has been some really great coops built on here by women who didn't know which end of the screwdriver to start with. But they made something really great to look at & very functional as well.

Most started in their garages in ac . It has been very impressive to watch several lately being built by women.

Just do it yourself!

Ask your husband to do what you do during the same time.

Make a dinner list, go grocery shopping, cook dinner, clean up after dinner, do the laundry, take care of the: kids, dogs, horses, fish, etc.

You both just might like the change of pace, and you get the coop that you want!

I built my own out of log timbers for the frame and then finished it off with rough cut wood. Not perfect, but it will hold up to the CO snows. My hubby was impressed, and now he is scared of what I might do! And he very well should be.

Maybe you can tell him he can buy himself a cool new tool as payment.
