How to humanly euthanize baby chicks (Almost one month).

I am too. But I'm glad there are such great supporters on BYC.

Knock to the back of the head on hard surface all it takes. instantly dead and from what i have seen, painless. Taking them to the vet? Are you serious? That is just, well insane. Sorry i don't see how anyone can have chickens if they cannot handle the tasks that come along with it. Did i like killing and processing one of my favorite roosters? no. did it need to be done bc he was an ahole to my other birds, yes. was he tasty? You betcha! I have to agree with the OT's on this point chickens are chickens, treat them as such. And don't think for a second if you passed out in the run, your pretty little sweet pet birds wouldn't try to eat you... Just sayin

I do have to agree with the last 2 posters I do like all my animals a lot but what it all boils down to is that I know they are food I bought them for food and not as pets.

We don't raise chickens for food. But we love their eggs! They have always been pets to my family. I would love to be able to raise my own meat though. Thanks for your help everyone!
