Hello! It's getting up to 100 *F here today, and I was wondering how everyone keeps their chickens cool? I'm very curious if anyone has any ideas. I'm currently giving the chickens cold whey.

Thanks!

Of course the first thing is cold drinking water :) and then dust bathing. You could also put a shallow dish of water for them to step into. Also cold treats.

I need to try that. Do your chickens love them?
I honestly have not made them because my mint plant hasn't given me enough leaves

but I will have enough by the end of this week :). (I've been waiting forever)

Chickens come in contact with many surfaces and objects which all have different temperatures. The best way to help chickens cool down is by making sure the things they touch are also cool. Their water should always be fresh and cold. Provide them with shade to keep the ground and such cooler. Hang frozen water jugs in the coop with a fan blowing on them to help cool air circulate and flow through the coop. Open any windows too. Eliminate crowded conditions so the bird doesn't have to worry about getting hot due to the contact of another. Hose down the coop and run if possible. One other idea is to put frozen jugs or water bottles in the nests to help keep laying hens cool.

Hope this helps!
