I like hanging the feed, swings about and makes less mess but for water is there any benefit over placing it on a couple of bricks?
I keep my waterer's raised but water is heavy so no need to hang it unless I'm missing an advantage doing so?
Shame the seal got busted. Have you thought about horizontal nipple waterers? Most people use 5 Gallon containers or bigger, I've used a 1 gallon container which is plenty - the only tricky thing is finding a 1 gallon container that has a really strong casing, like a plastic watering can. Using a cola bottle is far too flimsy but if you can find the right container it's just a matter of predrilling it and screwing the nipples in with a drop of glue.
They are the easiest waterers to keep clean, don't make a mess and are cheap.
