How to lose 60-70 lbs in a hurry?

Would you consider a veggie burger and some sweet potato fries?

Get a cheap juicer and juice up some celery, beets, carrots, and apples. Drink that 2-3 times a day.

Talk a stroll around the yard daily.Get a step counter. I think they say 10,000 steps a day is good.

Okay, here's my opinion (and I am sticking to it!!!): DIETS DO NOT WORK. Lifestyle changes work for a lifetime. I spent 30 years in the Marine Corps eating Marine and Navy chow. I was seriously overweight by the end and developed Type 2 diabetes. That is what ended my military career. So I changed my eating habits, the weight fell off, and I never gained it back. But I eat for fuel, not pleasure, now. Maybe something in here will help you?

First off, I threw away the salt shakers and the sugar bowls. Next I planted a garden. Then I bought a freezer. I buy meat by the quarter and can and freeze everything the garden produces. I shop no more than once a week--using a list. If it ain't on the list, it does not go in the basket no matter HOW tempting it looks.

What I eat:

Breakfast: Cheerios in skim milk.

Dinner: I take the largest bowl in the house and fill it with everything ready in the garden. I add my own homemade red-wine vinaigrette dressing. To this I add some block cheese and a red or white meat or fish. Sometimes hard-boiled eggs, too.

Supper: A repeat of dinner but with the addition of 1-2 cooked veggies and a fruit (I have a dozen fruit trees so I can/freeze the fruit without any additional sugar). To this I add a cup of pasta or potatoes or a single biscuit/slice of bread.

Snacks are fruit or sugar-free jello or pudding. If I crave ice cream, I settle for an ice cream sandwich or cone, so that the portion is really small. I never have ice cream in a bowl--it is WAY to easy to cheat if you use a bowl. Nor do I eat those big Klondikes--way too much sugar!

Notice there are no quantities for anything but the pasta/potatoes/bread/snack. That is because I eat as much as I want of everything except these carbs. I do not drink alcohol (but then, I never did.) I drink iced tea by the gallon--it's sweetened with an artificial sweeter. I make everything from scratch. That way I KNOW what's in it!

I've been eating this way for years now. The weight fell off and I have stayed right at 170-175 (I'm 6'0") forever. My bp stays right around 135/78 and my cholesterol is WAY under 200 (168 the last time it was checked, in fact!). I am 64. I still have a very active lifestyle thanks to my horses and my garden, chickens, orchard, vineyard...oh and the dogs that run me all over the yard at playtime!

Now I know that my eating style isn't the current fashion, but it works for me. I no longer use insulin (haven't needed it since a few months after I started eating this way!) What I'd suggest is to find an eating style that works for you and stick to it over the long haul. That's how you stay healthy, not by following all the fads or buying some "program" off tv.

Hopefully, you can take something from my experiences that will help you develop your own system! Good luck with this!

Yep.. heard thats a good diet too...

I just did some quick reading on this one. You inject yourself with pregnancy hormones and cut you calories to 500 a day. There is no way this could be healthy.

i did some research on this, bc. my friend is on this and indeed has dropped lbs, QUICK! she got her injections overseas tho... ( now how scary is that???!!!) I read the online stuff and about the stuff sold in USA... I still did not come away with the information feeling all warm and fuzzy, much less SAFE... I mean really ... they are injecting themselves w. preg . women's urine.... uhhhhh-GROSS---i mean, really --- how is this safe ? it is an excrement!

gee wiz.

Boyd, just do what you are doing and walk. Walk 30 min a day briskly, and it will come off. I am going to that.

Best of luck to you... My dad just called me last week to say that his BP was 175 over 120! his dr. freaked out. I freaked out. he must lose some weight too. You can do this.

There are people that are getting tape worms from overseas and eating them giving themselves parasites in order to lose weight......

Boyd, there are alot of people who care about you and need you. They are all the motivation you need. Losing weight is not easy and there aren't really short cuts. It takes work and exercise.

I KNOW its hard. I do. But, it is terribly selfish of you to make people love you and then not take care of yourself.........

I agree with rusty diets don't work. Changes in attitude and lifestyle do.

Keep us posted! We'll cheer you on!

With a pre-existing medical condition... Dont diet! Losses in nutrition affect the heart the most.. so I've heard. And you cannot count on a vitamin to take the place of food... most all contain ingredients that arent bio-available anyway, meaning your body cant even absorb it.
Sounds like your diet is pretty healthy as-is.. and I second what Pinapple says. Plus the water... water is just wonderful for loosing weight. I lost 40 lbs in one year just increasing my water intake but eating the same stuff. Eat your chicken, your veggies, add some carrots! More tomatoes! Garlic! Whole milk! And add more water! Then just take it easy.. give it a few years to loose the amount you are talking about. Dont stress your heart.

Get your tongue pierced it will swell for about a week and then you can loss wight.

in taking care of the animals and during the course of a normal work day I walk between 7-10 miles. Figure in another half a mile of treadmill work at a steady pace..

There are a lot of great idea's goin on here!!! Last year I did the cabbage soup diet, and it worked and over all it would have lasted except my energy levels are still not as high as they used to be. Before the mini-stroke I was about 190lbs but I worked out every day, lifted weights and had to eat close to 4500 calories a day just to maintain muscle strength to keep up with my job.

I've since cut back my calories to about 1600 a day with what I can do, and I think I can do more exercise. The atkins is sounding rather good this morning... mmmmmmmmmmm bacon

For a healthy male at 5' 6", keeping the calories at 1550 a day should make the pounds melt off quickly and safely, and then will also maintain a healthy weight afterwards for someone with little activity.

Simply eating no more calories than for what one should weigh is really key in losing weight, I think.

Exercise is really good, but when it's considered that it'd take briskly walking 5 miles to burn off the calories in a donut, it becomes obvious why people don't lose much, if any, weight that way though they may exercise regularly.

My mom had strokes and would have been hospitalized with the BP you have. It's near stroke level and it can suddenly spike up. Taking the diet advice of a dietician that your doctor refers you to sounds like it'd be the safest way to go with your health issues.

Jogging or running with a good, low-fat, low-sugar diet is the best way to go. I try to stay around 1500 calories a day but I am also not exercising much at this point...but once the snow melts I will at least be walking a few miles a day. Don't try to starve yourself or your body will go into survival mode and start packing away fat. Eat lots of small snacks throughout the day...light dinner with larger breakfast.
