What's the best way to pair pigeons? I have one young female that i want to breed to an older male, she should be ready in about a month, and i have one young male and one young female that i want to pair as well, and they should be ready to start breeding in a month as well.
I once got a pair but the male would hit the female whenever she was near him and i never saw them breed or show any sign of being a couple, i removed them from the coop and away from the other pigeons and put them in a cage on their own for about 7-10 days, and them i moved them back into the coop and they instantly became a couple and started breeding and laying eggs.
So can i do that with these young couples as well? Is there an easier or faster way?

If your method worked before, just repeat it again.
WISHING YOU BEST... :thumbsup
I probably will but i still want to get different ideas and choose the one most suitable for me, maybe there is a way to pair them without removing them from their coop, i don't know, maybe there's a faster way to do like in one night or so, that's why i need to read other people's experiences.

That is the method I use. If there is a easier faster way I am unaware of it. Just for the record their have been times that method never worked for me. Not often however. I found that just keeping them isolated together in a cage while in the loft worked for me as well.
How long do you keep them alone in the cage?

It varies with each pairing. I find I may have to separate them because the male becomes over aggressive toward the female so I cage then near by so they can at-least view one another. When I see the male displaying mating behaviour toward the female and the female finally excepting his advances and grooming him with displays of kissing. I am confident the pairing has happened.

You know you have "BINGO" when you witness copulation.

Sometimes it may only take 24 hours or even less depending if they had previous mates or not. Other times it may take 3 to 5 days.

If they have been paired before you will have better results by having the new pairing in isolation from the rest of the flock. Well that what works best for my birds.

Pigeons are a lot like people in their romances. Some divorce, some have affairs, there are same sex alliances, but most are basically monogamous. I would separate the hens and cocks each August. When I reintroduced them to one another in February almost 100 % would return to their previous mate with what appeared to me to be great affection.

Edited to add that upon those occasions where birds switched mates it was generally with pairs that had been 'forced' matings of short duration.

Understand that if a previous mate is available, the old cock may return to her.
I have a young female that still hasn't mated she is almost six months old, i want her to mate with an older male who's wife was eaten by a cat a couple of months ago, and i have a young couple as well, they haven't been paired with anyone before, and i want to pair them together, so almost all of them don't have previous mates.
