How To Raise A Rooster

He's a handsome fello. I recently added pics of my flock. They're 6 months looking all grown up. Bill is quite handsome now but he's starting to hurt the girls. Don't know what I should do. He's not aggressive toward me. The supervised free range idea is doing good. I just have to stay very close due to dogs and hawks. And I have to keep them from going across the street to the police dept. I guess I should have been doing this all along. But I had a nest of hawks in my pine tree, the momma did all her kills in my yard! I am taking it all day by day. Sure dont want to rehome him or eat him.
Wooh I hope the nest is not functioning in your tree anymore. I have been keeping an eye out for hawks and eagles when I supervise free range too. We live close to the Salton Sea which hosts thousands of birds each winter. Good thing we have an abundance of rabbits around. LOL it would be kind of funny if one found its way into the police department. It would be a good laugh for them, assuming they aren't having rough days.

The nest is no more but the 2 babies, now grown still roam the area. They grew up watching us build the coop. Drills, saws, nail gun hammering. They stared down at us all day. I loved it but hated it too because I kept my babies penned up. It was necessary back then but now, they aren't here so much. Momma hawk thought them how to kill in my yard. Bird carcuses every day. Now they are all over the neighborhood. I worry bout my chickens being a little crazy due to being penned up.

what breed do you have? If they are a heavy breed then the hawk wont be able to lift them

Would that stop a hawk from killing one, eating it and leaving the carcass? I have hawks where I live, too.
IDK but it would stop it from flying away with it to a nest somewhere. I know Eagles can carry a heavy chicken but not hawks. Plus I know a rooster is not going to just sit there and let the hawk munch its meal on your lawn. Try putting fishing wire on the tops of your fence and running it to the other side, like a net almost. That should stop them.
