How to remove fumes from new crib ASAP?

I went in and checked on it again since I put a bunch of baking soda around it earlier. I had to stick my nose next to it to really smell any fumes. The baking soda must of helped. I didn't even hardly smell the vinegar either.

I'll give it a couple more days since it is going to be 84 tomorrow and then do a shut window test without vinegar or baking soda. That will let me know if it still has fumes.

All you are doing is neutralzing odors... if it is actually off gassing fumes, they will continue unless you seal it, it stops or slows on it's own or you get rid of it.
What is it made of? PVC or wood?

It's made of wood.

I figured after tomorrow since it will be 86 degrees that I'll shut the room up and take out the vinegar and baking soda to see if it is still off gassing. I'm not putting it back into our room till I don't smell fumes in a closed room.

I have moved most of the baking soda out of the room since I had to use it elsewhere due to a dead mouse that I can't get to.

The manufacturer wrote me an email saying it was paint fumes and to use febreze on it. They then said the fumes are safe for my child to be around. Definitely a load of bull. I know febreze just covers smells and paint fumes aren't safe.

I'm going to return the crib. The wood is also so soft that you can easily dent it. I would hate to see a teething baby try to chew on it.

I'm now trying to find another crib online. I don't know what brand to get though that is less than $150. This one is Graco and I seen a bunch of links about fumes with StorkCraft. I was thinking of the Fisher Price Newbury or a Dream On Me crib but I can't find to many reviews.

You are right. I too think the manufacturer is nuts. I wouldn't use that crib for my baby. The paint fumes will eventually dissipate, but I think you are right to be concerned about the soft wood. Hope you can find something suitable soon.

I haven't gotten the crib taken back yet but I will be doing so. I did order a more expensive one that should be arriving Tuesday that is a different brand.

If you have any trouble with the return, remind them most states have an implied warranty law. Meaning that a product must be suitable for the purpose for which it is intended. A crib off gassing fumes is not suitable for a baby.
