how to tell if 7 week old chicks are roosters

I have 6 chicks that I was given from a nursing home when they were a day old now they are 7 weeks old and was just wondering how I tell if they are roosters or hen as I have 10 first year layers that are new hampshires the chicks I have no idea. Please help I am new to this Regards Annette G Australia

Hello and welcome to BYC! At 7 weeks you should be able to see some wattle development and a comb that is red or pinkish for cockerels, but not always true. Depending on the breed too. If you posted pictures it would be beneficial to you and any person that sees this post. It helps others compare theirs! :jumpy

Hit reply, then touch the little icon with the mountain on it. Then tap "upload files." Obviously to upload files, you'll need to have some pictures in your computer to upload. Good luck! I have four 2.5 week old chicks and am wondering the very same thing! My second grade class hatched them in an incubator as a school project. I love my chickens and have a nice coop now! The run is next!:ya
