how to treat a newly hatched chick with wry neck...?

No others can't catch it. I've done a lot of reading and they say wry neck has a few causes like heridity infection defiency and injurey. not sure which caused my silkies wry neck? But not to worry. others won't catch it from her.

Oh boy.. I have a few other eggs in the incubator from the same two silkies .. hopefully it's not hereditary in my case or a diet deficiency from the parents!

update.. little camo chick is walking a little around with head higher than earlier.. still very weak, lethargic, and clumsy but I think the vitamins and electrolytes are doing some good!

I hope not too! I'm sure she will get better it just takes some time. She sure is cute! My poor silkies head is still between her legs. Going on week two. she does pick her head up to eat from the bowl I hold up to her beak. mine can only walk backwards right now. It takes a lot of patience but slowly they improve!

Thank you! I hope your little girl gets better soon :( you've got some outstanding patience over there! Sending warm thoughts and prayers your way!

Thank you so much! Its really hard to see them in this condition I know! Yes patience is a must. I feed and water every two hours. I hope for improvement every day! Thank you for your prayers! I will pray for your chick as well. How is she eating? Is she eating OK? That's important. To keep up her strength ! I hope your little one bounces back quickly!

thank you :) she's kind of eating out of the dropper.. hasn't show any interest in dry crumble yet though.. but I've noticed a lot of my chicks don't start eating eating until day two though since they still have all that yoke in their system finishing up absorbing... It has poked around some wet crumble mash and I've had success feeding it electrolyte water with the dropper so that's a plus!

Glad to hear you are already seeing a little improvement. Love the pics and you sure have a little cutie there. Hopefully you can have her eating a little on her own before you have to leave her alone for any length of time. Good luck to you both.

You will likely be able to heal your bird faster. It seems younger birds heal quicker than older birds. My bird is 6months old with wry neck and improvements have been slow. From what I've read it seems young chicks bounce back a lot quicker! . your chick should be just fine! My little silkies going on two weeks already. I'm even using predinsone to help. She's eating a lot better thank God but sill had her head between her legs. :(. I just hope she can lift her head soon! Hope things work out well for you. And please keep me up dated on her progress! You can give me a pm if you like. I'd like to hear of how she's doing! Take care and God bless
