how to treat a newly hatched chick with wry neck...?

You will likely be able to heal your bird faster. It seems younger birds heal quicker than older birds. My bird is 6months old with wry neck and improvements have been slow. From what I've read it seems young chicks bounce back a lot quicker! . your chick should be just fine! My little silkies going on two weeks already. I'm even using predinsone to help. She's eating a lot better thank God but sill had her head between her legs.

. I just hope she can lift her head soon! Hope things work out well for you. And please keep me up dated on her progress! You can give me a pm if you like. I'd like to hear of how she's doing! Take care and God bless
I hope your little girl starts to show some improvement soon :( that must be so heartbreaking to watch. I will most definitely keep you updated on my little nugget's state and please do the same as well! You take care soon :) warm thoughts and prayers your way!

Thank you so much! Yes its very difficult to go through! My girl laid her first egg then the very next day she was in a heap on the ground
I panicked and thought she had broken her neck! When I calmed down I was able to access the situation and I realized she had wry neck
Just that fast! I do have some encouraging news! Today I caught her actually eating the seed out of her feeder! A miracle! Of course I will still be feeding her by hand but that's wonderful progress! If she would only keep her head lifted it would be wonderful! Most of the day her head is between her legs. She can walk but only backwards. I think what's so heartbreaking is you put so much time and effort and heart and soul into the treatment. With such hopes for a fast recovery. When recovery is much slower for older birds than I'd hoped for! I still say tomorrow is a new day and maybe tomorrow she will improve! Her eating on her own is.a huge step forward! I just had to share it with you! Hope your baby is healing as well! Good luck and God bless you!

Just wanted to share an update :) the little chickie is doing GREAT! You would never know she had any issues at hatch.. I even have a hard time picking her out from her siblings!

Realsis... How is your girl doing??

Wow- my first bout with wry neck- and I got a double whammy! A 4 month old Silkie and a 4 wk old Silkie (I suspect she's half Polish- whoops- She's gray with some brown in her. Was chipmunk. Daddy was white, Mom was blue or splash (didn't have any other hens) Glad I did- he was killed by a predator. This little chick is half him.

I read that Marek's CAN cause it, so I'm keeping my little one separated. However, I'm wondering if, since he hatched this way, I am being overly cautious.

But I also worry that he won't recover because he's between 2-3 weeks old and just began to receive treatment, since the farmer who had him before me did not treat. He cries all the time because he gets in a spin, basically. He CAN get his head up on his own and clean himself, though. It's just that he can't more often than not, and that seems to panic him.

Realsis... How is your girl doing??

I know this is an old thread but I just had one born with wry neck! What do I do??? It can't even stand! Its a tiny serama

Hi alisan! Sorry I just saw this.. hopefully you found a solution and your chick made it!

For anyone wondering I've had success treating with polyvisol and vitamin E gel caps - twice a day by medicine dropper is what worked for me. I also supplemented with a little bit of Pedialite by dropper. Hope that helps!
