Lucky you, ChocolateMouse! I feel like half my day is spent trudging around with water containers to the veggie garden and the gazillion flower beds -- AFTER I haul water to the goats and sheep, and use the hose to water poultry and keep the baby pools filled for the waterfowl.

On the other hand, it takes care of my cardio and weight training for the day

@MrFluffyandGirls, you seem nice enough despite being a Yankees fan!

@eggsandhens, I probably wouldn't even be good at Tetris anymore. I'm pretty low-tech. I still had a flip phone until I lost mine two years ago. The "modern" world is often a mystery for me.


Today, my vet is coming out to do a wellness check on my sheep and goats, and help me trim hooves. It's not a one-person job -- all six goats have horns and they're not afraid to use them.

Thanks for starting this thread! Yesterday was spent trying to keep chicks and hens alive in this heat (same for today... 100+ degree weather) and Zoom work meetings. Same today, along with making some masks to give away and a Zoom birthday party tonight.

I also want to thank you for starting this thread, @eggsandhens. I don't see people from "the outside world" so much these days, so it's nice to have a place for small talk -- not politics, not problems, not pandemics.

My day got off to a rough start, but by midafternoon, I decide to tackle a project I've been putting off for months. I fool myself into doing unpleasant tasks by telling myself I will only work on whatever it is for 15 minutes. More often than not, I keep going for at least an hour.

It's starting to heat up here, so I cut up a watermelon and tossed the pieces out to the chickens, ducks and geese. Tomorrow, they will get electrolytes in their water.

Despite a wretched headache this morning, I managed to cook lunch, wash dishes, clean the kitchen floor and stare at the laundry that I'm not going to do until tomorrow. I got my recycling hauled out to the garage and have planned my TV viewing for the evening. Boring, but still a pleasant day.

Thanks for the post! Sounds like you had a pretty busy day again It makes me happy to see someone so dedicated to keeping their chickens cool in the heat. I’m staying in Washington right now and I’m walking around the little shops outside of Seattle

It's pretty hot here today -- 96 degrees, and my poultry are loving the watermelons and the huge chunks of ice in the little stock tank.

I wish last week's vacation in Minnesota wasn't over. It would be lovely to wade into the cold water of Lake Superior again.

Have to admit, I don't know what's happening with the Yankees, but the Cubs FINALLY decided to beat the White Sox. Hope you're getting to see a game or two, @MrFluffyandGirls. Of course, the Braves are on again today -- and all the West Coast teams have been on all weekend. I just want to see the Cubbies!!!

Hi @Callender Girl ! A week's vacation in Minnesota sounds amazing! I grew up in the Midwest and really miss it.

The Zoom party was fun. Last night a friend had a big milestone birthday and five of us had a very "socially distant" (hmm... that phrase is so odd... I would say we had a "safe distance" from each other with masks on since it felt very socially, though not physically, connected) backyard party. Even visiting from 6+ feet away with masks on was still nice after a long time of isolation.

Hope your birds stay cool (it's 93 degrees here with low humidity) and that you're having a wonderful day!
