how well do mutt chickens lay?

Our mutts are laying/breeding machines!! Our mutt hens started laying a few weeks ago and our pure ones close to the same age haven't even started yet!

I call the gold colored one my EE since she has green legs and lays green eggs, I know they are a mixed breed but...

The "bantams" that are on the top pipe just love it there lol, the bags are protecting my electric meter from being pooped on. The funniest was when the con-ed guy had to install the wireless part, I had just built the coop and he looked at me like I had 3 heads. Now that the wireless is installed i dont have to have them look at it to read the meter and hopefully wont have strangers needing to get to it. lol

Hi,

Which one do you refer to as the EE, the one in the front in the first picture with the gold and black coloring? That looks most like an EE to me and I think EE's are really mutts, anyway! BTW, nice chickens--love your roo! Genie

i sell mix (mutt) chicks on craigslist for $2 a piece and it is freezing out. i could sell them 10 times over. i wish i had a bigger bator.... i didn't think anyone would want them. who would have thought in central ny in dec i would have a line....

I think a lot of folks are changing their focus with the economy. I have had quite a few ppl ask about "getting chicks or starting a flock". A mutt can lay as well as a pure and it can taste just as well when cooked.

I've toyed with the idea of firing up the bator and selling chicks but at this point I am avoiding temptation....lol.
