How/where do you store your feed?

I use a metal trashcan for layer pellets, 30gal holds about 150lbs. I have a smaller one that holds 50#s for "grower" (whatever non-layer food I'm using). I also have a 55gal drum with a clamp-on lid that I store BOSS/scratch in but I don't like it much because rain collects on the flat top and tends to get inside when I open it. I also have a couple of those plastic pet-food containers that I use off and on as needed. The preds seem more interested in chicken dinner than layer pellets so except for the drum all the lids are easy to get on/off but still keeps the feed dry. They all set out in the weather.

I live in South Korea and after my friends gave me by peeps..as a joke....I was given some kind of feed for the chicks from a Korean woman that owns a chicken farm...they are about 2months now...when do they go onto regular chicken "pellets" which is what I can buy over here? I want to be sure they are eating correctly..I think that they waste more of the chick feed than they eat. Any advice?

Tala, where do you get the 55 gallon drum with THE TYPE LID YOU HAVE
I can get a drum but it has the little hole and sealed rim.....could use one like you have...bought a rubbermaid(have to go out to get brand) 37 gallon can for feed, was told this person has used hers for 10 years and still going...bought at feed store....use metal can that hold 150# of feed , keep in feed section of hen house...1 for feed - 1 for scratc & rice mix ....hope this helps

They're super sturdy and the lids have a lockable metal band that keeps them airtight. I also keep my DE in one, and they're both next to the run for convenience.

At the moment, I have my feed in a recycled "kitty litter" container. We buy the 27 lb Cat litter that comes in the plastic bucket and we go through it in two weeks, so we have lots of these containers lying about! The one I'm currently using is outside in the run, but it is inside the large (also plastic) garbage can I bought to hold the pine shavings. Since we used up almost all of the pine shavings before the girls went outside, the can is housing the pine, an extra bag of play sand, and the feed container!

We put our feed just outside the coop in a black rubber garbage can. I place the whole bag of feed inside the can (I don't empty the feed out of the bag). The can sits in the shade next to a tree. We do not yet have any type of critter that has tried to get into the can.

I would love to get one of those wall feeders that holds a 50lb bag of feed; but I don't have a roost-free wall to mount it to.
