The truth. I have always believed that honesty IS the best policy. Best of luck.

My worry with you leaving is that nobody else may care about the standards of care and try to raise them. These poor people deserve better and have no voice. If you feel you must leave please be sure to let them know why, you owe it to your patients.

Ouch... those words are what I am afraid of.... after 4 shifts I can hardly call them "MY" patients...

I have a REALLY hard time with guilt... I feel I OWE to much to everybody. I hate disappointing people. I almost take it as a personal failure

None of us are trying to put the screws on you here

It must be a very difficult position to be in, but I strongly believe things happen for a reason. Maybe you can help bring the change these people need, not necessarily by continuing to work there but by ensuring that those who need to know are alerted to what is happening there.

You as an indivitual can NOT change the world, or anything in this situation.

No matter how hard you try.

I would quit stating the standard of care is not good enough.Report it to the state. If you remain, even for a day, you are liable for any injuries. I quit one place after having to move/get up residents all by myself. How do you lift a 200 pound person? Everyone was always too busy to help me lift. Just not worth it. I also let families know at times when I had concerns for their loved ones. Some were grateful to know, some not.All kept their loved ones in the nursing home and nothing changed.Still I felt better telling, because then it was on them not me.I did the best I could. You did too. Move on. Consider opening up your own place and providing the best care possible.Or do home care helping people stay in their homes.Really hard to find good trusting people for those in need.

I voted to tell the truth, but then I read on about who owns and runs the facility. Now I think you shoudld just quit since it is during your probationary period.

I would also report these abuses of standard of care to the proper authorities.

And, don't put this job on your resume. You had another job at the time, so there will be no lapse in employment.

I work in the health care industry (Skilled Nursing Facilities). What you're describing makes me sick.

I would report them. I voted that you should be honest. But, if you do report them, you should be as low profile as possible.

How much guilt will you feel if you let this drive you nuts. Bail, find a better job and report them if you feel guilty about their patient cares.

As someone who was aCNA for 5 years I would have to say tell the truth .. Otherwise they may not see the issues.. So many administrators are soo busy with the Office part of the Job that they dont see the Care issues on the floor.. I know how horrible this must be for you as it was always very difficult for me when health and safety issues came up.. Some of the things you are saying are VERY dangerous to the residents and really need to be addressed..If they blow you off when you bring these things to their attention I would have to contact a local news agency or senior aid organization and anonymously report them.. Good Luck your in a tough spot for sure..
