Mine were not the worst, by far, but nothing like Chickie's!
My first son was 8 days late. I had an idiot for a dr. She had my due date messed up. Originally it was right, or close anyway. But she had measured my belly late in pregnancy and decided the date must have been off, cause I was too big. Nooooo, it was because there was an 8# baby in there!! Anyway, the stupid doc tried to induce me twice, then went on vacation (thank God!). Her father took her place while on vacation. My husband and I had decided to have a c-section, since the induction was not working. My doc's father sent me to have a prenatal profile instead. That doc basically said the same thing, that my doc was an idiot. I had had 2 sonograms early on, one at 6 weeks and one at 12, for spot bleeding. All babies grow at the same rate the first 12 weeks. So those dates were the right ones. One was Oct. 30, the other Nov. 1. Anyway, I was induced a third time, on Nov. 8, and that time it worked! Induction started at 8 a.m, and at 10 pm Jesse was born. All 8 pounds and 21 inches of him! Only a pain shot with him, not a good idea when being induced!
2nd pregnancy, I had a good doctor. He actually listened to me. I liked that one so much I told everyone to go to him! Jonathan (#2) was 11 days late. Labor started around 5 a.m., and he was born at 2 a.m. the next day. No pain meds or nothing on that 1!!
Pretty uneventful there.
Now Cristian, #3, was a very different labor. First off, he was actually on time, due the 26th, born 6 am the 27th, can't get much closer than that. I never really went 'into labor' with him. I guess, if I had to count, it was probably Thursday evening/Friday morning when it started....he was born on Tuesday
I never had 'regular' contractions, they would come and go as they pleased. If I changed position, they would stop. Then start back up after a while, until I changed position again. I called the hospital Idk how many times, and they said to wait till the contractions were 5 minutes apart and blahblahblah. If I would have done that, he would have been a home birth. The contractions went anywhere from 7 minutes apart to 20+ minutes apart. Finally, I was so uncomfortable that I was sitting on the toilet (duh moment for sure...hey, it had been 8 years since I had had a baby, I forgot okay?
) So sitting on the toilet, and going a lot of course, I had quite a bit of blood, moreso than normal. Well, normal being the 'goo'. I called my friend that was to take me to the hospital (of course, hubby was out of town working). It took about 45 minutes for them to get to my house and get me to the hospital. 8 cm dialated on arrival!!!
Thankfully, the amniotic sac was still intact or he would have been born in the car or the toilet!
2 hours later he was there! He was my smallest by far, only 6 pounds 2 ounces, and 18 1/2 inches long, due to my hyperthyroidism, so maybe that's why it was sooooooo different? I'm just glad we made it to the hospital!
