Howdy from NEMississippi

Hi Charles and Catherine! Welcome! I am also from Northeast Mississippi born and raised in the birthplace of the king- of Rock-n-Roll that is...Elvis the Pelvis Presley! From Tupelo, Mississippi. I live in Shannon now about 10 miles South on Hwy 45. You aren’t from around here are you? Not too many folks call their land homesteads in these parts. That’s what clued me in or tipped me off. We just call them places, properties, or farms. This area hasn’t been homesteaded since about the 1800’s. However, I wish you the best of luck with it! Welcome to BYC!

No, not from around here though we have lived in MS before - years ago down along the coast. We call our place "Duck Trails Farm" or just "The Farm" and we fit the technical definition of a homestead so it's all good. Besides, people are from all over and some might think if it's smaller than two sections, it's not a farm just a yard. Tupelo is the nearest big city to us - we're tucked in near Pickwick Lake. Thanks for the welcome.

Well you are definitely in some of what lots of folks say and feel is God’s Country! We might meet up one day at Pickwick or Bay Springs and have to do some Crappie fishing! Have you ever had that pleasure? That’s the best fun if they are biting and the best fish eating if you have em filleted and fried of course which takes only about two minutes to do! Good fun and better eating! Yes you definitely have you a homestead for sure in some might fine territory. Probably the best to have around. You’re in Tishomingo County I presume? A Veteran maybe? If so thank you for your service if not continued welcome anyway.

Retired Navy, yes. Thank you. Fishing's good pastime. We manage to find a few spare minutes now and again to fish our farm pond. Haven't been out on the lake yet. For sure we'll get out there one day!

I found you on FB. You have an awesome place. I think homestead suites for sure. I love the flags and your dog. My Dad was retired Army. WWII Veteran I am proud to say. He passed New Years Eve 2018 at 91 plus in my arms going out the way he wanted. If you ever get down to the Veterans Memorial Park in Tupelo you can see a little bench in memorial to him. He was a little bit of a personality in Tupelo especially East Tupelo. He was on the Veterans planning committee until he died that built the park. I am grateful to him and proud of him for that. He was a great Dad and friend not only to me but lots of folks and as a First Sergeant for twenty years. I miss him a great deal. He was a joke and story teller and never met a stranger. He would like your flag setup a great deal also and want me to send you a big Mississippi welcome also so you have it. So we wish you the best and continue to do well at your Duck Trails Homestead!
