Hello everyone! I am a soon to be chicken owner. Waiting for warmer weather. Live in Sherman, Tx. Looking to get 6-10 hens. Haven't decided on the breeds yet. Looking heavily at Barred Rocks. I have a lot of experience raising larger live stock, cattle, horses, but only had chickens on one ranch I worked on. A small flock of about 8 Light Brahmas. Those girls were so pretty and gentle. I actually would like to get some brahmas, but the ones I cared for were not great layers. And I hear that barred rocks tend to pick on more docile breeds like brahmas. Anyway, I've got a lot of questions, and I am glad I found this sight. So the journey begins.
