How's the chick biz? Are your sales being affected by the economy?

Chick sales are great right now for me, I think (hopefully) this is going to be my best year. I have 6 large incubators running non stop and cannot keep up with the demand, I am turning people away. Everyone says they are buying them because of the economy, if I had room in my house I would bring in a few more and get them going. I've got 6 of them in my den now and my husband is not happy that I have turned it into a hatchery

My bird and egg sales have been good too. Hubby seems to think people wont be buying this year. I however think that although people may not be buying luxury items and vacations, a pretty bird is inexpensive by comparison and something to enjoy while they are staying at home.

Out of curiosity, where do you all advertise your chicks? I am now going to be selling hatching eggs and chicks for the first time. I have had in the past a few extas here or there needing to rehome, but nothing with a steady supply.

Booming! I wish I had started more chicks in late Fall for POL pullets now. We're pretty much sold out of POL now.

Now taking orders for April chicks and POL for August.
