Her only unique suggestion for your specific scenario is to hook a sausage on a string and let it swallow it then drag it out. LOL
Typical method would be to knock it down to the ground and use a shovel to chop its head off. It WILL come back.
If nothing you try works, my suggestion to protect the chickens is to bring a light in there, battery operated hopefully or maybe run an extension cord. Leaving the light on lets the chickens see if anything is coming and they can get away from a snake on their own.
It would not be a good night sleep for them but they would all make it to morning when you can leave the coop door open all day so the snake leaves.
*We have lost birds to snakes. Even recently, a pencil thin corn snake managed to strangle a youngster. So if you can't get the thing, just don't leave them in the dark with it. It can sense their heat and will find them on their roosts
