HUGE Black snake in chicken coop. Can’t Get him out

Found him. And he crawled deep into the rafters after messing with him. I’m pretty well sure I trapped him in there at least. He’s curled up in the ball like he’s scared and I’ve shoved every bit of netting and extra hardware, cloth , and everything that I’ve had around, so he can’t get out of that spot. And set some bricks in front of that. But I’m still gonna end up checking every hour or so. Watching him slither through the top of the rafters made me realize how big he really is. Wow.

Are you just trapping him there until morning when you can get him out? You’re brave!

Well, he was still in there trapped at 6 AM this morning and when I went in there a bit ago try to get them out. He somehow is gone. I don’t know how he got out, but I noticed there’s about four very active hornets nest deep in the eve so he probably got pretty well attacked. I don’t know where he is now. But I’ve looked all through the chicken coop and the chicken run and I don’t see him in there. Headed out To buy some for ingredients for some snake repellent
My ex-husband used to always give me crap about taking all the extra time to look at every little corner of the chicken coop before I close them up. Doesn’t seem so silly now, right?

I have a lot of rat/ chicken snakes around my property. I have one living under my front porch. During dry season I put out a tub of water for it. They will find a way into my coop despite my best efforts. That is why I use repellent, which does work.
The funniest one was when two snakes were laying on the boards between the walls. They would stay on the board, reach down into a nest and get an egg. I had a heck of a time figuring out how eggs were going missing with snake repellent out! I drilled a hole, used a bulb blower thing to get repellent to where they were. It worked, I haven’t had a snake in the coop since. (That I know of)
It’s sad to have to dispatch one. But it’s so much worse to lose a chicken!
Best of luck to you!
