Grab the birds, place your thumb and first finger around its next and head in your palm. Squeeze hard and spin the bird. You will feel the neck snap. Spin it hard and the head will come off and bleed out if you want. Have some where to hang them when they stop flinching. I have two rosters to kill off the perch this week when I am not hurting on morning at first light and this is how I will do it. Just grab one, walk out the coop and spin him. Then in for the next.
Birds will move if you use a BB gun and you're likely to wound several from them moving. It's likely to be a lot more traumatic for everyone involved. Plus, you shooting them in then run, or tractor? The first birds going to flop and the rest will get uneasy very fast. Never kill in the run, IMO.
