Ch.20
Almost as soon as I was asleep I began to dream.
I was once again running through the woods and away from a man and his hounds, but this time as he yelled I recognized his voice!
He was the man who had tried to kill Amy and I. The man who had called us freaks of nature. The hunter who was our enemy before we had ever met.
I recognized him, yet he was not the same. His voice seemed echoed in different tones as if he represented a group of people.
As if he represented all of the hunters!
My dreams now made sense. They were warnings!
To what they warned me I didn't know, but they were there just the same.
The man yelled through the trees in his - and yet not his - voice, "You won't get away from me missie!", but the voices that collided with his said another thing, "You will not get away from us, girl!"
Even as the words were said, though, I was getting away.
I had again crossed the river. I had escaped them.
Their words were nothing but hollow threats.
Their promises were death, yet I was still alive.
I gained hope, and in doing so, I was now running with my pack. Running in a mesmerizing forest.
There were even new members.
We were all smiling, but after a minute of this, the dream turned yet again.
Everyone frowned and stopped, looking to me as if there were something I had to do.
Cole appeared, and I jumped back in surprise. He seemed apologetic and caring.
He spoke softly to me, "I am sorry that I frightened you, Lena," he brushed my muzzle, "but the truth is you overreacted."
"Disappear." I said, hoping that I could control of my dream as I did when I was a child.
"Lena, I am no dream. This is the real me. This is my white ability. I can do anything with dreams."
"You can't be the real Cole!"
"Oh but I can, and I am." he paused, "I suppose you have never been told about the white abilities?"
"The what?"
"White abilities are the special... gifts a white wolf gets that makes them more...powerful than other werewolves."
"You're a white wolf?!?!"
"Yes."
"Wait, this is a dream. You're not real!"
"Yes I am!"
"Prove it."
"I can't! You'll just have to take my word for it."
"Go away!"
"No. I am here to say sorry, now will you let me?"
"Get out of this dream right now!"
"Fine. Whatever. Bye, Lena.", and just like that he was gone, and so were the others.
I was left alone in a beautiful forest, but I wasn't loving it.
I stayed there for hours, wondering if it really had been the real Cole.
Finally, my body had rested enough, and I woke up.
